Summer 2012
The following rules and
regulations have been made for the benefit of our campers. We ask you to read them through
carefully. It is only through the complete cooperation of each and every camper that we
look forward to a great fun-filled summer. We've been extremely careful in selecting our
campers and we know that we can trust in their full cooperation to conform to these rules.
They have been made with your safety in mind and will ensure a great and most enjoyable
summer. These rules should be taken as your warning. There will be no other warning
necessary. We also urge any camper that may be experiencing any difficulty whatsoever,
whether it be with his bunk mates or anything at all that may be bothering him, (no matter
how trivial it may seem, to bring it to the immediate attention of Rabbi Eli Teitelbaum or
Rabbi Moshe Gottesman. We assure you that it will get our immediate attention and concern.
1) No room may ever be locked when a
camper is inside at any time.
2) Rooms must always be kept neat,
clean and spotless.
3) No suitcases or bags are to be
kept under the bed but must be stored in special room set aside for that purpose. Bags
needed daily must be kept on TOP of closets.
4) Campers will be held
responsible for any damage whatsoever, and proper restitution must be made.
All shoes and sneakers must be taken off the floor and put on the bed every day so that
the people responsible to wash the rooms can do their job.
6) No camper can leave on his free
day before cleaning up his room properly.
7) Any laundry in the room which does
not belong to one of the occupants should be given to the office at once -Hashovas Aveida.
8) No camper can leave the room to
breakfast before the head counselor inspects the room.
9) Valuables such as cameras, tape
recorders, money, etc., must be kept in camp safe. The camp assumes absolutely no
responsibility for those not heeding this rule. The valuable room will be open BEFORE
breakfast on trip days for you to pick them up. It will also be open in the evenings so
that you can put things back.
10) On linen-changing days, clean
sheets and pillowcases will be given to you only in accordance with the amount returned.
11) No objects at all are to be kept
on desk in room. No linen is to be stretched across the room. No extra mattresses are to
be put on beds.
12) No bottles may be kept in the
room. Any bottles found in room will be confiscated. (A bottle breaking in the room can be
very dangerous).
13) Absolutely no water fights are
permitted in rooms or buildings.
14) Under no circumstances may
windows be removed from railing.
15) Raids are not permitted.
16) At no time is a camper to be
found in another camper's room unless the room's occupants are there at the time.
1 ) Campers having permission to
leave camp grounds on their Free day or any other time, must always sign out before
leaving. When returning you must make sure to sign in again.
2) On Free Days, campers must be back
no later than 7:00 PM. Failure to be back on time will result in losing your next free day
privileges.
3) Campers not having parental
consent can, under no circumstances, leave on their own without being in the accompaniment
of a counselor. Leaving Camp without Permission will result in immediate expulsion from
our camp program!
1) All campers and staff must give in
the laundry according to posted schedule.
2) Each room is to submit 2 bags: 1
for white laundry and 1 for colored.
3) Only clothing with NAME TAPES will
be accepted into camp laundry.
4) All laundry must be brought to
laundry at assigned time and again picked up when ready.
1) Campers must adhere carefully to
the schedule. At no time are they to be found inside the building during learning,
davening, or activities.
2) Everyone is expected to be
punctual for minyan, learning, activities, and meals.
3) After curfew the building must be
perfectly quiet. Curfew will be strictly enforced.
4) The use of foul language
at any time will result in expulsion from our camp program. The camp will absolutely
not tolerate such behavior.
5) Camp does not permit
non-jewish music, due to it's disgusting nature.
1) Campers must always remain with
their group. No one is to wander about on his own.
2) Time schedules must be adhered to
strictly. We must insist that you be on the buses at the designated time. Lateness will
not be tolerated, and will result on having to stay on the bus at the next stop.
3) When stopping at local stores for
drinks, we expect proper courtesy to be shown. A proper line should be formed. No pushing
or shoving in front of others.
4) We expect our campers to make a
Kiddush Hashem wherever they go.
5) Make sure to pack along
lunch in the morning during breakfast time. An assortment of foods and
sandwiches will be available.
6) We expect everyone to be extremely
careful in making sure that we keep the place where we are eating lunch perfectly clean
and in the same condition as when we arrived.
7) Upon returning to camp, please
return valuables and left over money into the camp safe.
8) If for any reason you become lost
from the group, you are to call our emergency cellular number, which will be
made known, and we will give
you further instructions. Please memorize this number and keep in your
cell-phone.
9) Never pick up any strange objects
from the ground.
10) On the first trip each camper
will be assigned a number and a proper count-off must be made at all stopovers.
11) Do not collect any bullets from
Israeli soldiers. They are dangerous and it is forbidden to keep them in camp!
12) Your cell-phone is to be kept on at all times.
If for any reason we find a camper
having a negative influence on other campers he will be immediately dismissed from our
program. S'dei Chemed seeks to enrich a child's' summer experience and has been greatly
successful in being a positive influence on a child's character and Jewish values. We will
be very firm in this regard. We have worked hard to earn our excellent reputation, and we
intend to keep it that way!
Camp S'dei Chemed International puts
great emphasis on character development. Prizes are distributed
each summer to campers displaying good middos, good sportsmanship, and being considerate
of others. As the great sage Rabbi Akiva taught, "Love your fellow as
oneself is the foundation of the entire Torah." A sensitivity and concern for other
people's needs is a character trait that is especially important in our day and time, when
it is so lacking in much of today's society.
We were indeed fortunate to have had
a lovely bunch of youngsters in camp this past summer. While coming from diverse
backgrounds and countries they learned to live and play in harmony with mutual respect and
love for one another. We salute them for their constant politeness, lovely manners, and
the great Kiddush Hashem they made wherever they traveled. May they be role models for all
others to follow!
