Please note that we've changed our Emergency phone number. The new number is +1 011 972 52 3-791-960. Please keep a copy of this number with you at all times.
Those wishing to buy a fan should buy it in Israel. We've had lots of trouble with American fans whose transformers / converters overheat and cause fires. Therefore we do not allow them in camp. You can buy these fans on our first trip to Yerushalayim for about $25.
The latest fad in Israel is cell-phones. Since we are constantly traveling and the time difference can make it very difficult to reach your son, you might want to rent one for the summer. Rentals are as low as $15 - $20 for the entire summer. Incoming calls in Israel are free for the recipient. Camp has done a little shopping for you and has provided you with two plans from which to choose. One is located in Israel and the other in the USA. Be aware that phone calls do cost money, and if it's not controlled (which camp does not do) you can wind up with a costly bill. Camp does not take any responsibility for the handling of these phones, so please deal directly with the company. Enclosed please find the forms with all the information.
If you still have not sent in your medical or learning forms, please do so immediately! Bank and Canteen Money It is extremely important that you send in your son's canteen and spending money now. Please do not give us these monies at the airport or in camp since this will delay the process of your account, thus leaving you without spending money for the first few days. We beg our campers to please keep all your money in the camp safe or bank. This will save you much pain and aggravation. Heed our advice, it comes from much experience.
Make sure you bought a life jacket, as we will under no circumstance allow you to swim in the oceans without one.
From the moment we board the plane and throughout our entire stay in Eretz Yisroel, it is imperative that we make a Kiddush Hashem wherever we go. Since people identify us as frum yeshiva or day school boys, it is extremely important to always be on our best behavior. Any rowdiness, even on the part of one individual can leave a distasteful impression of our entire group. When eating out on a picnic lunch, it is everyones responsibility to leave the place perfectly clean. Pushing or shoving on line can make a bad impression and cause a Chillul Hashem. Camp will never tolerate such behavior. We are extremely proud that over our many years, Sdei Chemed campers have left an indelible impression as polite, well-mannered, and well-behaved youngsters who have been the best representatives of what a yeshiva boy should exemplify. We are sure that this year will be no different.
