Hiking in Israel can be lots of fun, however certain precautions must be taken to prevent any unnecessary tragedies, chas v'shalom. These rules are for your safety and your benefit; make sure to always adhere to them.

  1. When hiking or walking together, you must always stay with the group and follow all the instructions given. Under no circumstances may one leave the group for even a short time without specific permission from the person in charge.
  2. You must always be between the guide and the staff member bringing up the rear. Always make sure to keep the person ahead of you sight and that the person following you sees where you are going.
  3. When hiking up paths that are marked, instructions regarding the proper color will be given. Remember that color and always follow accordingly.
  4. The following equipment is mandatory on all hikes:
  • Hat (the sun is very strong in Israel);
  • Sneakers or walking shoes (no sandals).
  • Water shoes will be necessary for some hikes.
  • Canteen. Those on Tour B and B plus must have 2 liters of water on all hikes.!
  1. Do not take any unnecessary equipment on hikes.
  2. Trails can be narrow and/or at the edge of a cliff. Always stay away from the edges, and never stray off the trail.
  3. Never lift and/or throw rocks. Scorpions and other unfriendly visitors can be hiding underneath them. While they will not attack under normal circumstances, they may attack if they feel threatened. One never knows who can be standing where a rock is about to land, so never throw rocks!
  4. Never drink water from any water source without explicit permission from the guide in charge. Even flowing spring water can be contaminated, while the water being used for agriculture is often laced with pesticides.
  5. Do not touch anything not belonging to you! Do not climb on or damage ancient artifacts in any way.
  6. Should any emergency arise notify the person in charge of the group immediately. In the event that any of the rules are unclear do not hesitate to get the necessary explanations from the person in charge of the group.
  7. Have a great time!
