Camp S’dei Chemed’s tours are planned out many months in advance. Every detail is carefully worked out so that the day is utilized to the maximum. Many years of experience have taught us what kids love most! S’dei Chemed’s reputation as "the ultimate in touring" is well recognized. T’nach and Chazal come alive as we retrace the paths of our history-soaked land. No wonder our youngsters return home with a deep and everlasting love for our homeland and sacred heritage. The inspiration they receive remains with them for a lifetime! This year we will once again be running 3 tours, A, B, & B plus. This booklet will give the run down on them all.

Tour B

Second year campers get a chance to see parts of Israel rarely seen by the average tourist. The program called "Off The Beaten Path" takes them through winding paths and magnificent trails that lead through wadis and hills, streams and rivers. They crawl through caves and scale up mountains for some spectacular breathtaking sights. It gives them an in depth view of Israel that few ever get.

Tour B Plus

Tour B plus is a special tour for those campers who have become addicted to Israel and are returning for a third year of fun and enjoyment. They will be exploring fascinating sites rarely seen by the average tourist and do some vigorous hiking. We are delighted to have them back with us for a third summer.

You can also check out our camp web site at http://www.campsci.com/iguide/ and scroll through our beautiful designed virtual guide of Israel, which will soon be published as a separate book. It contains a wealth of information and some beautiful pictures of the places we will be visiting this summer; you'll find it very handy.

Some General Trip Information

Always remember to lock your doors and windows before leaving on a trip. There is plenty of spare time during our long bus rides that you will find it quite useful to take along a cassette player or Walkman and listen to some very interesting Torah tapes. Before each trip you can borrow cassettes from the camp tape library. Among the variety of topics available are Jewish History, Nach, Mishnayos, and Gemorah. Should you desire to study a particular Mesechta of Mishnayos or Gemorah then we suggest you pick up the tapes from the Torah Communications Network at 718 436-4999 and bring them along with you. You may want to keep a diary of your summer experience. Camp offers a $50 award for the best kept Diary. Last years winner was Adam Mermelstein, maybe this year it will be you!

Remember to always take your camera and enough film. Each camper will receive his assigned seat on the bus, to be used throughout the entire summer; this will facilitate fast boarding on all trips. Time will be a very important factor on all trips, and we will insist that campers always be prompt and board immediately upon the proper signal. Each bus has it’s own guide, who will explain all the beautiful sights on our journeys. Each guide is an old veteran in Israel and has been selected especially for his thorough knowledge of the country - a strong background of Nach, Chazal and history. Our personnel are thoroughly familiar with all there is to see, and have done a magnificent job of familiarizing our campers with Israel from it’s past up to the present day. Few Israeli tours can boast of equal success. Make sure to always bring along a canteen. A cooler is preferable since you can fill it up with ice from our ice machine. The latest gadget around is the camelback water bottle. It is worn over one's back and has a plastic tube going around to the front. It is a fantastic item for hikes. We ask all boys participating in our Tour B or Tour B plus programs to bring along two canteens, a hat (to shade from the sun), and a small pocket sized Nach.
