How One Could Have Stopped the Disengagement

By Rabbi Eli Teitelbaum

While the disengagement is already over and nothing the settlers did seemed to be able to stop it, there was one thing that was overlooked and that is the great power of unity. Had all the hundreds of thousands of men, women and children that filled the old city of Yerushalayim from end to end refused to leave and instead allowed themselves to be arrested, there would be absolutely nothing the Israeli government could have done. Civil disobedience can work wonders if there is total unity. No one leaves jail till everyone is released. There simply aren’t enough places in Israel to jail a hundred thousand people and even if there were, it would have been ludicrous for the government to dare try it.
