Summer 2012
Our address in Israel:
Tomer Devorah is located at Rechov Atzag 54 in the Ramot 06
neighborhood of Yerushalayim.
Nestled
in the breathtaking hills of Jerusalem, the Tomer Devorah campus is located on a
quiet street in Ramot. Our campers will have full access to the thriving Israeli
and American community and all its amenities, including grocery stores, pizza
shops and even a local indoor swimming pool. It’s a completely self contained
campus, beautifully designed for our needs.
Within the building are
two stories of spacious and fully equipped dormitories. The dorms are roomy and
private, several
with beautifully tiled balconies overlooking the hills. The main floors house
the classrooms and Beit Midrash, dining hall, lounge and fully outfitted
exercise room. There is even a quaint, cultivated garden adorning the campus.
We have arranged to have all the dorm rooms air conditioned
for our stay there. Together with the Seminary we have invested in this endeavor
to make sure our stay there is as comfortable as possible. We have also made
arrangements with a beautiful large sports complex just a small distance from us
to have on camp days.
While
Ramot will be our main base for the summer we will have many extended overnights
around the country as can be found on our itinerary. These include, Kinar Hotel,
Keshet Yonatan, Kibutz Lavi, Old city of Yerushalayim, Old City of Tzfas, and
Eilat. This, we feel gives us the benefit of having a comfortable place to rest
up, store our belongings, and feel at home.

Welcome to our Grand Tour of Israel...
It
will be our greatest pleasure having you with us for this upcoming summer. We're
sure it will be the most fascinating and memorable summer in your life! Six
weeks of pleasant sunshine filled with pulsating excitement, and packed with
thrills, pleasure, learning, playing, hiking, touring and never-ending fun and
enjoyment. That's because at S'dei Chemed we work many months before the summer
starts, planning every detail. Our entire staff puts in months of preparation to
ensure that Camp S'dei Chemed International will remain the pace setter
in providing the very best touring program available anywhere in Israel.
S’dei Chemed was the first camp on the Israeli scene. It
all began in 1968 when no one thought it was possible. Ever since then we have
always been striving to improve and make our tours better and better. There are
always new ideas and changes. We never rest on past glories. But most of all, we
are concerned with every single camper. There is no problem too small for us not
to care about. Every camper counts and the welfare of each one is of our utmost
concern.
Word about Our Tours

Camp S’dei Chemed’s tours are planned out many months
in advance. Every detail is carefully worked out so that each day is utilized to
the maximum. Many years of experience have taught us what kids love most! S’dei
Chemed’s reputation as “the ultimate in touring” is well recognized. Tanach
and Chazal come alive as we retrace the paths of our history-soaked land.
We will take you to all the major tourist sites around the country. In addition
we have included some fantastic hikes leading through some beautiful trails and
waterfalls. It’s no wonder our campers return home with a deep and everlasting
love for our homeland and sacred heritage. The inspiration they receive remains
with them for a lifetime!
Some General Trip Information
Always
remember to lock your doors and windows before leaving on a trip. There is
plenty of spare time during our camp bus rides that you will find it quite
useful to take along an ipod and listen to some interesting Shiurim. Just do a
simple google search for ipod shiurim and you will find some quality lectures to
download onto your ipod. Imagine listening to a shiur on navi as you pass the
beautiful mountains of the Golan.
Remember to always take your digital camera and bring some
digital storage cards along. For trips spent in the water you might want a
disposable water proof camera as well. Each camper will receive her assigned
seat on the bus, to be used throughout the entire summer; this will facilitate
fast boarding on all trips. Time is a very important factor, and we insist that
campers always be prompt and board immediately. Each trip will have a guide, who
will explain all the beautiful sights on our journeys. Our guides have been
selected for their thorough knowledge of the country - a strong background of
Nach, Chazal and history as well as their uniqueness in being able to
deliver this information to our campers in a fun and exciting way. They are
thoroughly familiar with all that there is to see, and have done a magnificent
job of familiarizing our campers with Israel from it’s past and up to the
present day. There will be a choveish (medic) accompanying us on all of
our trips. Make sure to bring along your hydration pack, It is an essential for
all hikes. Fill it up with ice from our ice machine. A hat, sunscreen, and a

We expect and demand that our campers exhibit their very best behavior both in

Middos Awards
At the end of every summer camp delivers our best in
Middos awards. The winners will receive a special prize as well as be
published in their local newspaper.
At S'dei Chemed you’ll have the opportunity to meet girls
from many other places. We want you to make new friends. So don’t be cliquey,
expand your horizons and make everlasting friendships with others from around
the world. You can learn a lot from each other. One of the best things you can
bring back with you from Israel besides the pleasant memories of sights are your
new friends who will remain with you for a lifetime.
Camp
made special arrangements for the summer with a five star caterer to provide us
with quality food throughout the summer. We’ve put special emphases on salads
and a healthy diet in general. You'll find it nutritious, delicious and
plentiful. However, should you have a specific diet or food allergies, we ask
you to bring your special needs to our attention so we can do our best to
accommodate you.
Our breakfasts are served Israeli buffet style and are known
to be the finest and best you’ve ever tasted. Each morning camp will set up an
additional selection of spreads. All girls are to pack themselves lunch everyday
during breakfast. This is to be done even when camp brings along lunch i.e. BBQ.
This is to ensure that each camper will have what they like. If there is
something else that is desired this is the time that we can have it arranged for
you, once we are on the trip it might not be available to us. Camp will provide
a lunch box for each girl and this is to be filled up and left inside a special
cooler which will then be brought on the bus so it can be kept cool and fresh
throughout the day. Camp will always bring snacks and drinks along for the trip.
DRINKING WATER
There is an irrational fear amongst tourist not to drink the
water. While each reservoir has its own distinct taste, Israel has one of the
best filtered and tasting water. It is worthwhile to make the leap and start
drinking the tap water right away. The trick that we found is to keep the water
ice cold and so it seems to taste better. This will save you a lot of money
rather than buying bottled water at every Israeli stand you can find.
